Most people will agree that today's kitchens are not complete without granite countertops. According to Mark Mercado, sale manager at Midwest stone, granite is the hotted item in kitchen remodels of late.
"We do roughly 50 kitchens per week," he said "Customers absolutely love granite. It gives a space an incredibly finished look."
Midwest Stone is the place to get granite in Chicagoland. They cater to residential and commercial customers. Part of the company's success comes from its one-stop-shop model.
"We do everything," Mercado said. "We import granite and buy from local wholesalers. We will help the customer measure and design their space, and then we install the final product." The company's staff is another secret of its success.
"We have an incredibly professional staff who have been in the industry for many years," he said. "When a customer comes in our Plainfield location, they are greeted right away, without having to wait. We make it easy for customers to come in, select material, select the dates they want for installation and then we install the granite. It is very easy for the customer."
The company's inventory is another trademark, Mercado said, adding "We have thousands of slabs in-stock. If you can't find something at our place, you won't find it anywhere." Expansion plans are under way for another Midwest Stone location.
"We are looking to expand a little north -- to maybe the Schaumburg, Batavia area," he said. "We would like to make it easier for people to drive from Chicago and the northern suburbs. I think we will open a new location in the next 18 months or so."
"The best part of my job is teaching customers about granite and seeing their reaction to the final product." Mercado said, "I really enjoy getting a phone call from a client who says, 'Mark, I absolutely love it. Thanks a lot.' "
