Design Corner - Styling - Romantic

romanticThink candle light and soft music, and the first thing that comes to mind is romance. It is quite simple to create a romantic mood. The main ingredient would of course be two lovers. Romance can be anything from the way your lover looks into your eyes to the way their hand grazes yours when you both reach for another glass of wine. Romance is a feeling that two people create, but you can also set the mood with the perfect romantic design.

Colors - You must choose colors that have a romantic feel. The best colors to set the mood will be reds and pinks. Shades of reds and pinks are said to be the color of love. Painting your walls a soft shade of pink and then painting one accent wall a deep shade of red will definitely bring the spirit of love into any space. However, you want to be careful painting your bedroom red because it is also said to be very stimulating, and in your bedroom you want a calming color. Painting your bedroom a neutral, soothing color and then accenting with reds and pinks in your linens and window treatments will be a great balance for a relaxing bedroom, but still bringing in a romantic feel.

Lighting - Having a soft glow is a wonderful way to set the mood in any space. Lighting will be very important in a Romantic theme. Candles! Candles! Candles! Use candles whenever possible in your romantic space. The warm glow candlelight creates is very inviting and make people feel very comfortable and relaxed, which is what you want when you are creating the mood. Installing a dimmer switch on your lights will also come in handy when you wish to control the amount of lighting in the space.

Accessories - The main focus of a romantic space should always be the person in which you are sharing this space with at the time. You will not want to over do it with accessories. Make sure your romantic space is clutter free, but still have enough to feel warm and inviting. There is a happy medium to the amount of "stuff" you have in a space. You want your linens to be soft and snuggly to the touch. Try hanging sheer window treatments for a whimsical feel, and furniture placement should be close to feel intimate and comfortable. Flowers will also be a great way to accent a romantic space.

When love is in the air and creating romance with design you are sure to have the perfect recipe for a romantic space.
