Gardening - Water Structures
Gardens are such a beautiful addition to any home. One structure that is often found tucked within these beautifully landscape spaces are water structures. A water structure can be anything from a fish pond to a rock waterfall to a bird bath. Whichever structures you decide to go with you are sure to bring serene finishing touch to your garden.
Location - When you make the final decision that you will be adding a water structure to your garden you must pick the perfect place for it. A great place can be anywhere in the garden you choose. Water structures do not necessarily do better in shaded or sunny areas. Just keep in mind when choosing the space for your structure the actually space the structure encompasses will need to be free of plants and flowers. One suggestion may be to place your structure in an open spot in your garden. If you have a space that you are not to sure what to put their due to sun and water supply, this will probably be the perfect space to place your water structure.
Types - There are many options to choose from when deciding on which water structure to choose. There are simple options, like a bird bath, or there are a little more involved options, like a rock water fall. It is completely up to you which road you wish to take.
- Bird baths - Bird baths are probably the simplest option for you because you can just place them in your garden and fill with water. Bird baths do not require a continuous water supply or motor because they are traditionally filled with standing water.
- Fish Pond - If you choose to install a pond in your garden you will require a little bit more space. You will want to contact a professional to help with the installation or follow DIY instructions. Installing a pond will involve digging a hole, lining the hole so the water stays in and a proper motor to keep the water flowing to help the fish stay healthy.
- Rock waterfalls - If you choose to go down this road you will probably want to consult a professional or have DIY instructions as well. A rock waterfall usually does have a pond in which the water flows into so this is a wonderful addition to a fish pond. A rock waterfall usually consists of strategically placed rocks so water runs down freely to create a waterfall effect. Having any sort of waterfall in your water structure will involve a motor as well. The motor will be the "behind the scenes" responsible for sucking the water back up to let the water rush down the rocks. Hence, creating the waterfall effect.
Installing a water structure into your garden or backyard is not only a beautiful addition but an economic one as well. It will allow for wild animals to gather around and get their daily requirements of water. So if you choose to install a water structure do be prepared to have more wild life roaming through your garden. Squirrels, raccoons, birds and butterflies all need water so don't be shocked when you look out your window and see you have gained some friends from your decision as well.
This project does not have to be difficult as long as you go about it the right way, which means proper guidance and knowledge on your part. Choose the right location and the right structure for your garden and you are sure to be satisfied for years to come.
