May 5, 1862 marks the day the Mexican arm reigned victorious over the French army. Some make a misconception that Cinco de mayo is the Mexican independence day, which is actually September 16th. May 5th is a day to celebrate Mexican pride.

Colors - Traditionally the Mexican culture is known to be full of color. The Mexican culture is a very bright, happy culture and that is definitely portrayed in all they do and wear, especially on Mexican holidays. During this celebration people will dress in traditional Mexican dress and often the men will wear colorful sombreros and the women will wear long, full skirts.
